WISCAP is hosting three virtual Poverty Matters! sessions in place of our typical in-person conference. Details are below:

"Homelessness in America: Myths and Realities".

Date: December 1st

This session will feature two experts on national homelessness policy.
  • Diane Nilan, Documentary Film Maker and Director of HEAR US, Inc.:
    For the past 15 years, Diane Nilan has traveled backroads across the country chronicling family and youth homelessness for her nonprofit organization, HEAR US Inc. Her award-winning videos have conveyed the reality of homelessness to audiences across the land. Her presentation today will include 2 short videos and a lively discussion on the realities of homelessness for millions of families.
  • Donald Whitehead, National Coalition for the Homeless: “14 Myths of Homelessness”:
    Donald is recognized as a leading expert on homelessness, having served as the Executive Director of the Greater Cincinnati Coalition for the Homeless, Assistant Director at St. Vincent de Paul of Baltimore, Program Director at Ohio Valley Goodwill, Grant Manager at Goodwill of Greater Washington and Director of Communications at Greenpeace Ohio. Donald served two terms as President of the Board of Directors for the National Coalition for the Homeless, two terms on the Board of Directors for Faces and Voices of Recovery and two terms on the Georgetown Center for Cultural Competency.
